Background
I am a Belgian-American clinical psychologist, with a private practice in Westchester, New York. Born and raised in Europe, I conduct individual and couple therapy in English and in French.
After earning my Psy.D. degree in clinical psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, I worked as a psychologist and supervisor at the Karen Horney Clinic in New York, in the adult and trauma units, in particular as part of the 9/11 trauma program. I am an adjunct clinical supervisor for graduate psychology students at Ferkauf Graduate School, Yeshiva University, and at Lenox Hill Hospital. I am a graduate from the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. I have a certificate of the Advanced Program in Family and Couple Psychotherapy of the NYU Postdoctoral Program and I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. In Belgium, I earned a Master degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain.
To these academic references, I add a lifelong experience and interest in humanities and psychology. I taught economics at college and high school levels, was the director of a center for children with learning disabilities, and worked as a consultant to diverse social and educational institutions in Belgium.
Philosophy
I strongly believe in an integrative approach uniquely adapted to each patient's needs, using my training in psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, cognitive, behavioral and systemic theories.
My international and economic experience provides me with a unique ability to understand business conflicts with private life, tensions due to international travel and relocation, cultural or religious diversity.
